Welcome one and all, to the different pantheons that exist outside of the Forgotten Realms! Here, you will be introduced to the various gods you can serve in DnD 5e!

They hail from 4 major pantheons, from various historical times. These pantheons come from the Celtic, Greek, Egyptian, and Norse beliefs. They have been repurposed for use as gods in DnD 5e and have been sorted into what domains they might fall under.

If you are more interested in learning more about the deities reigning over the Forgotten Realms, you can find those here. They sprang from the brook and stream, their might heightened by the strength of the oak and the beauty of the woodlands and open moor. When the first forester dared put a name to the face seen in the bole of a tree or the voice babbling in a brook, these gods forced themselves into being. The Celtic gods are as often served by druids as by clerics, for they are closely aligned with the forces of nature that druids revere.

The gods of Olympus make themselves known with the gentle lap of waves against the shores and the crash of the thunder among the cloud-enshrouded peaks. The thick boar-infested woods and the sere, olive-covered hillsides hold evidence of their passing.

The Egyptian pantheon is unusual in having three gods responsible for death, each with different alignments.

3.5e Greater Deities

Anubis is the lawful neutral god of the afterlife, who judges the souls of the dead. Set is a chaotic evil god of murder, perhaps best known for killing his brother Osiris.

And Nephthys is a chaotic good goddess of mourning. Where the land plummets from the snowy hills into the icy fjords below, where the longboats draw up on to the beach, where the glaciers flow forward and retreat with every fall and spring—this is the land of the Vikings, the home of the Norse pantheon. Their powers reflect the need these warriors had for strong leadership and decisive action.

Thus, they see their deities in every bend of a river, hear them in the crash of the thunder and the booming of the glaciers, and smell them in the smoke of a burning longhouse. The Norse pantheon includes two main families, the Aesir deities of war and destiny and the Vanir gods of fertility and prosperity.

Once enemies, these two families are now closely allied against their common enemies, the giants including the gods Surtur and Thrym. Have you chosen which of the dnd 5e gods your character serves? Similar to monster powers, these are not true deities but very powerful extraplanar beings. These however do not even profess to be gods though many still have designs on godhood. They mainly describe the number of followers. For campaign use we should order the deities by domain. When your player asks you for a specific god in a domain, you can just relay to this list.

Every god is shown with their alignment and power level, as well as suggested Cleric Divine Domain. If your player wants to play a nature based cleric I would suggest these deities. Beory is the general nature god, Mother Earth in persona. Ehlonna is associated with forests while Ulaa is associated with hills and emeralds. A forge cleric focussing on emeralds is plausible. While Boccob is all about achieving great knowledge of arcane power and spells, Wee Jas is more a goddess of magic and death that usually comes with it.

They have an interesting different view on the use of magic. These are all deities of doing the right thing for the greater good or doing the right thing as a human being. Rao is the god of peace, Pholtus is the god of light and law, while both Heironeus and St. Cuthbert are gods of justice, honor and truth. Cosmical powers are important to these gods, as Pelor is the god of sun while Celestian is the god of stars and moons.

Fharlanghn stands for travel and the distance to the horizon. Istus is the all-known god of fate and destiny. There are several deities of the sea and wide oceans. While Procan stands for weather and the impulsiveness and chaotic behaviour of the sea Xerbo stands for the sea and the sea life itself.

Thread starter gyor Start date Jun 18, Things I've noticed in reguards to deity rank, all pervious demigod deities got a promoted to lesser deities because demigods are now closer to traditional demigods and can't grant spells to clerics.

Greater Gods Avatars are basically Lesser Gods, that could have interesting angles if their Avatars are unique from each other. Quasi Deities I hadn't given alot of thought to before, but I realized Empyreans, Kraken, the Terrasque, and other Titans are concidered Quasigods, so they are a kind of God, abit the weakest. Quasigods are subranks. Titans I think are the most powerful, next Vestiages, with Demigods with their mortal parents the weakest.

I'd love to see demigods monsters, who are Fiends Evil or Celestials any GoodElementals Chaotic Nuetral, Lawful Nuetral, True Nuetral depending upon alignment, like medium sized, weaker half mortal Empyreans, bit more varied.
